Meeting with Tim Whitehead

Today I met with Tim Whitehead about getting video tapes for my site to get started and he agreed that he would help in anyway he could. All I have to do is transfer the tape to digital. This is a great start and with the rest of my plans go well I hope to have something out soon.

Plans over Break

I intend to keep learning how to write my own page and I am trying to get my first release out shortly. I am trying to get some html together now. I am excited that some of it is coming together.

Why is Gtape.com needed?

It has been done for hundreds of years dating back to Caesar and his Roman armies in their preparation for battle to help them conquer Asia. That mentality goes right along with every sport team greats and how they had to be prepared to go to battle in the sport of their choice; that is why teams practice. With Gtape you will no longer be left behind with a losing season and unprepared because with the access to our archive of game tapes of the opponent of your choice. You will know everyone of their game tactics and all for the taking. Could you imagine if armies throughout history had the ability to foresee how their opponent was going to attack? Now you to can have this advantage just at the tips of your fingers and a click away.

IDEA #5 TAPE SHARING

I am proposing to make a database site where teams can exchange game tapes for pre-game preparations from our archives. On this site the coaching staff will have access to the opponents game films for their game preparation and the other teams will have access to library as well. This is loosely based off the gametapes.com and the difference is that we will give you the access you need for your pre-game preparations, but to be apart of this is unique database you will have to share your game film with others in order to participate. Depending on the amount and quality you share will determine what you have admittance to in our archives. Along with gaining the right to an archive of your opponents games we will also be able take your games from analog and transfer it to digital form for easy downloading.

Also this afternoon I was encouraged to meet with Gizietonamoog a friend of John and Joline. He is a native american from Cape cod area. I got a chance to sit and discuss the possibility of a documentary on why the Native Casino plan was rejected by the Maine voters and passed a
Racino proposed by a non-native organization. We discussed that because of a Land Claim agreement made between the tribes of maine and the federal government and in the agreement there are certain stipulations about tribal gaming. Under the land claim agreement the government can't inter fear with the tribes trying to make economic gains and a Casino is their tribal right and should get the opportunity to develop a plan for a Casino in the state of Maine.

New Idea

Today I met with Jon and discussed my new idea about pursuing a documentary based on why the state of maine allowed a white run company get passed and why the native american casino proposal failed. Is race an underlying reason but a big reason why the Maine people were opposed to the Tribes of Maine to build a casino.
Now instead attacking the issue as just a documentary as the norm I am trying to explore other options of approach to this subject.

why SMS Marketing?

I believe that this could help any businesses market strategy by being able to affect people on an individual basis making it more personal. Rather than stuffing a flyer in their pocket or filling their email box with spam. I for one get tired of spam emails always trying to sell me some worthless piece of crap, but SMS market is a lot more personal and you can choose what you to get for message on your Mobile.

TEAM UP WITH PIPELINE

I also thought that it could be a good idea that I could link off of Pipeline because they are making events letting people know what is going and and why can' t they implement the same concept to their page as well. Let people choose if they want to go Mobile Pipeline or I could be just another feed off their site but I think going Mobile could work really well for them as well.

COST OF SMS?

What is the type of cost that people are going to get charged for receiving SMS.
In the world SMS is a 2.5 billion dollar business but still yet has to catch on in the united states. Have to find a way so that it is a free service and that people aren't getting charged for it or if they are a very small amount.

IDEA #4

I think that it would be a good idea since society is finally grasping the SMS wave.
Ordering food by texting business and you give all your information and what time you would like it cooked and ready.
It's almost similar to ordering Pizza online but making it more personalized or texting ahead dinner reservations.

DO PEOPLE WANT TO BE BOTHERED

I would like to set it up so that people can subscribe and choose to what they would like to alerts and what events are coming up so that they are not get messages all the time.

Do people want to be bother by these types of messages? That is why I think if they voluntarily give their number then they are able to receive all the messages.

I read that SMS is such an acceptable means of discussion and what on teaching officials do is SMS parents that their kid did not come to school. SMS is such a huge business in the world and with some things I feel that I the United States is always a step behind in some of the communication.

I really liked what James had say in class how I can implement using SMS to help promote some of the events that are going on at the club. Finding how to build a mass software that allows people to sign up and let them choose what they would like to know about and what alerts would come to their phones they can choose.

I am really interested in Film so I would also like to produce a film maybe a documentary but that is only because I have been at the Camden International Film Festival. All though it tough being the Director, producer, and editor I would really like total creative control. I have got a lot of great insight from Tim Rhys of Movie Maker magazine whom I had the privilege to meet at the festival and has really inspired me to do film.

I would like to continue on somehow with my idea about computer sms to your moble phone and basically learn how it works. Meaning how it is developed and possibly integrate to the major somehow sending out messages to students, groups, classes, and maybe from administration to professors. Tell people if classes are canceled because almost everyone has a cell phone but also it could be used or integrated first class so that it is distributed to both email and sms to mobile.

What am I considering?

This past year I had an idea to implement an alert system at the University that would send a text to you for when an emergency like the Virginia Tech tragedy and hopefully prevent another horrible incident. Unfortunately there was already a motion to put this in place at the University.
